Foreword
When I first got into Roleplaying, it was because it was a world without limits.A sentiment that I am sure many of you hold as well. What we do is unlike any other forum of gaming in that it is not only free form but has no limits.. We are not bound by graphics, a board, or a field, we are truly limitless in what we can put down on these pages. With that being said we hold ourselves to high standards, police our own, and ultimately and hopefully grow as a gaming and fantasy community together. It is in that spirit that I hold a special view of what we would call a dueling thread or proving ground as a place to roleplay, write, test our skills, and one would hope improve upon our creative processes. Its value being essential to a community alongside the official games we play. In my opinion a good role playing dueling thread or proving ground should do one thing: be whatever you want it to be! It is a blank canvas in which you can call upon the whole of the Star Wars and even fantasy universe to both have fun and learn. So with that being said, use this thread and place to drive your creativity, skill, and exploration into roleplaying. While I encourage everyone to fill this thread with whatever they wish, we do have some rules: Rules
~No deaths (unless, see below judged matches) ~What happens in this thread stays in this thread and in no way affects any standing or other games. Think of this arena as an exhibition match free of all other things. ~Be fair and respectful. The moderators and admins of these forums reserve the right to mediate and intervene in any ways and at anytime they deem fit, and while this thread does not have “In Character’ consequences outside of it, all forum rules and decorum still apply! ~IF a sanctioned approved, and judged match it approved. The appointed GM or judges along with the Admins and Moderators have all final says in match outcomes and judgments. ~When you bake cookies ensure to grease the pan properly, you do not want to burn them. ~Don’t be a JERK. This goes hand in hand with the rules of the forum. Feel free to push the limits of your characters and even roleplaying. This is what this place is for, for you to learn and expand upon your skill and greater understanding of roleplaying. A good roleplayer knows how to balance the idea of pushing the limits, while maintain a realistic sense within the SW and fantasy universes that we play in. So do not GOD-MOD. Suggestions
~Think outside the box. You do not have to have a Jedi vs Sith duel, have a Starfighter or Bounty Hunter duel. This is a sandbox, build what you want. ~Try out new characters, make up new characters. Do what you want creatively. ~Have fun. I wish you all luck and good fortune... Someone Somewhere, someplace, sometime…
The arrival had been as expected, abrupt and quick with navigational readings going haywire while they punched through the atmosphere. Their entry had scrambled systems and completely disoriented the bridge, still it had subsided as quickly as it had been brought on. The homing signal had been picked up on easily, as they said it would be, bringing them down to the beacon. The energy readings where near off the charts, but there was no way to pinpoint it. Even as they exited the transport and began setting up the equipment as requested a thick mist shrouded the landscape, visibility was near zero. These Sith Lords paid handsomely for jobs, still this job could not be over soon enough. With sensor equipment and a large transmitter array in place, their work was nearly complete. It was time to leave and get off this place, the eerie feeling of being watched, something beyond the mist was pulling on the whole crew as they finished up what they had been paid to do. A scream and one of the cream was dragged off into the mist. The standing crew whirling around trying to orient themselves in the thick mist. Those that had blasters, drawing them. A bit a fear dripping in and permeating their minds. A second scream and another crew member was dragged off into the void. This time a few red blaster bolts flashed in the mist as panicking crew members tried to sight in a threat, but were really only firing blindly through fear into the mist. Another scream, and the crew was panicking, though the mist was even thicker, the ship itself nearly shrouded as crew moved about trying to find their way back to the large transports ramp. More screams, more blaster fire. The snatching of them becoming more frequent, and within minutes nearly two dozen crew and personnel were gone. The whole of the crew was gone, while generators powered the recently activated beacons and sensors. Transmitting signals off world as designed. Almost as if on cue, the mist seemed to dissipate, revealing a vast landscape, untouched and expansive. Indescribable and serene. In the distance a lone structure a tower nearly loomed over all, vacant and calling to those willing. The world itself was a blank canvas…

The Lorekeeper Somewhere
A bird sat on upon the limb of a tree overlooking the serene valley, numerous other forest creatures roamed about as well. A dear nibbled on a patch of clover, two rabbits frolicked in the tall grass, and a bear and her cub were sampling berries from a nearby bush. Next to the tree ran a trail of gravel, it was well worn and lead to the tower on the valley floor, though even it dared not disrupt the peace.
~POOF~
The noise of the commotion tore through the valley, it was accompanied by a cloud of white smoke that formed on the trail. The bird which recently chirped happily took flight and the rabbits dove into the deeper foliage for safety. The deer stood upright, seemingly frozen in fright. The mother bear simply turned her head away from the bush to see what was going on, her mouth full of sweet berries, her cub paid no attention.
A sudden resistant and rough sounding coughing, frequently interrupted by the most foul cursing, erupted from the concealing smoke. As the cloud dispersed a ragged looking man could be seen bumbling about in confusion, his hands waved frantically in a feeble attempt to clear the air. Finally, he was able to look about, to his horror he wasn't in the library any longer.
After many long moments in which his cursing echoed from the valley walls the man began to regain a semblance of his composure, if ever he was composed to begin with. By the looks of him one would find it doubtful, his entire appearance could be summed up as "disheveled". His white and stringy hair was a tangled mess, his cloths long past the time to be thrown, and his arrival was accompanied by a pungent odor.
The deer bounded off into the nearby wooded area, it's white tail signaling retreat as it silently escaped. The mother bear stood on her hind legs and growled deeply, her warning to stay away from her cub clear. The Lorekeeper simply lifted his hand and left loose a volley of purple hued lightning, the bolt caught the bear in her chest and killed her instantly. The cub cried and ran to the smoking husk that was once it's mother, but The Lorekeeper paid it no mind.
His attentions had already turned back to deciphering the mystery of why he was here, and where here was. It was obvious that he would not find answers standing half way up the mountain, so he reached into his satchel and pulled from it a small bag, after carefully opening the bag he pulled a small piece of starfruit candy out and popped it into his mouth.
With a smile he began his hike towards the tower.

Undying World
The Cleansing Like feral beasts the roamed and wandered, remnants of those before that attempted to tame this place... call it to their own hand and throttle it for their own desire and will.
This place held power, was a place to behold and one unique to the individual.
The mist had revealed many things this day, among them those captured and unable to escape an everlasting and eternal hell, released from their ethereal bonds and made to wander.
Wandering the grounds of the principle and main structure on the world. One that would need to be maintained and occupied to.
Beings and beast alike, mindless and craving. A horde of ravaging death and decay. Thousands of them.
OOC: Simply Kill them all. Write to your heart's content, I will occasionally throw in challenges or intersect to throw you off and challenge you. Put you in situations to get out of… TAG: EVERYONE

IC: A Cloaked Figure In a strange, strange landThe figure's boots touched the ground lightly, lighter than you'd expect for someone of his height. His whole appearance, in fact, suggested that he was weightless and weighed thousands of tons, almost at the same time. Almost. The shift in perception was mentally jarring. At first glance, it seemed the figure floated just above the ground, as light as ash with his dark, swirling cloaks. But in the next instance, his presence and weight seemed to crash down upon the ground -- crushing, overbearing, malevolent. The back and forth of these two opposing appearances was enough to give even the strongest mind a headache. And he liked it that way. He stared with absent curiosity at the world around him, quite unconcerned with the hoard of half-dead things creeping nearer until reached they a distance that became noticeable to someone who was extremely difficult to kill. Impossibly difficult. The Shadow of Death smiled politely as the hoard neared. He was used to this sort of thing and generally took a calm approach to situations as these. After all, it wasn't his death. "Your suffering is done." And it should have been so. The Shadow reached out a finger to the masses, willing their deaths with a single, whispered utterance, channeling the power of his originator: Death. But they did not die, nor notice much of anything. He frowned and watched as one of these wretched creatures reached out and touched. his. cloak. Touched his cloak. The Shadow vaulted back, landing with an bone-rattling finality that in and of itself conveyed his surprise, but more importantly his dismay. This place, whatever it was, was not confined by the traditional bounds of life and death as he had seen in all the other lands he had. It was a realm where even he was a physical being. He had little time to contemplate the possibility of his own mortality, for now the hoards had taken notice, and they were coming for him. "Then we will do this the old way." The Shadow of Death reached behind his back, and in one fluid swipe of his arm, brought out a gleaming scythe that bore the same weightless massiveness that The Shadow himself had. He brought the blade down on the first man's skull, and it cracked open with a sickening squelch. Blood sprayed on The Shadow's cloaks, but he swung towards the next head, and the next, and the next. A dark, shadowy fog began to fill the area, as if seeping from the ground....or the beings themselves. The Shadow swung again, impaling one of his attackers in the eye and catching the hobbling one behind him in the throat. He was making an awful mess. The Shadow of Death had not the power of his originator, and the dozens that swarmed towards him were nearly too much for what he assumed was his now-mortal form. He would not risk trying otherwise until he knew more about the place. He turned towards a tower looming above the trees. So The Shadow of Death fled, weightless strides quickly taking him away faster than the half-dead creatures could follow him. He did not stop until he saw a road, and it was on this road upon which he stopped. He looked forward to the tower, then back, and saw a dirty, ugly, scraggly, old man. He dipped the end of his scythe towards the man, ready to kill what he assumed to be one of the decayed attackers from before. TAG: Everyone, but especially Darth Cruor , dragonsith13 , OOC: I know he's "The Shadow of Death," but in this world he's as mortal as anyone else, so it's not inequitable.

The Lorekeeper Somewhere
The starfruit was delightful, it started off sour but sweetened as one chewed it. He was about to take another from his bag when a, well, he wasn't sure what it was to be honest....a dark, shadowy, small, yet large, light as a cloud, but impossibly heavy. It as everything all at once, yet nothing at all. The decrepit arcanist was stunned, he had never seen anything like it, as terrifying as the creature was his feet remained planted.
"Run, you fool." A raspy voice echoed in his head, a familiar voice. Sometimes friend, sometimes not. It had been with him for some time now, as long as he can remember it seemed, the life before was a memory long since forgotten. "Why?" He mumbled audibly, either forgetting or not caring that he was seemingly speaking to himself.
"Do you not see?" The voice pressed. The Lorekeeper nodded, he saw a specimen he has not encountered before. It looked deadly, it would make a great addition to his collection. His mouth split into what could only be described as a grin, though his broken and rotting teeth made it appear less than friendly. "Shh," The Lorekeeper hissed aloud, "you'll scare it."
The creature seemed to approach, even though it appeared to drift away. Curious, he could watch it all day long, but his musing was cut short when the thing was standing and floating directly before him. That in and off itself wasn't overly concerning, but he had to admit that the motion it's scythe made was a bit creepy. As was his habit when he was nervous, he laughed, it was a pathetic laugh that sounded as much like a cough as anything.
He took a step back, then had a brilliant idea. Still holding the small bag of starfruit candy he held it toward the shadowy nothing, "Do you like candy?" He asked, the grin reappearing on his face.

IC: The Shadow of Death The Road Seldom TakenDeath's Shadow retracted his scythe when the being before him, although physically not entirely dissimilar, appeared not to be one of of the half-dead creatures he had encountered. The Shadow watched the odd little man, observing with curiosity as he mumbled to himself....or someone. He certainly looked like the type that had voices, not necessarily in harmony, talking within his mind. But The Shadow of Death felt no fear, for that was foreign to one who had lived so long immune to the one thing inevitable in all life. He had a job to do: kill for Death. He was hardly a being within his own right, and merely existed as Death's tool. But that did not stop him from being polite, because even Death himself was not a cruel character. The Shadow reached down with hands that seemed to bear claws for fingers, and carefully picked a blue starfruit candy from the mix in the bag. He nodded to the figure, but did not eat the candy. He could not, being not of mortal composition, eat, and he did not bother considering that it was a possibility on this strange planet. Now with the fear of mortality, he wouldn't have ingested the strange, sour candy anyway. Rather, he sniffed it, and it was like he sucked the life out of the little blue morsel, if such a thing were possible. It shriveled in his grasp and blew into the wind, reduced to ash. It was a sweetly sour candy. He could smell it. The Shadow looked towards the tower again, then back towards the stinky little candy-eating man. "If your path leads to that tower, I hope you wouldn't mind company. This world is a curious oddity in the universe, don't you think?" He looked towards the tower again, and began a slower, but purposeful, pace to the looming needle-like tower. TAG: Darth Cruor, dragonsith13,

UndeadThe putrid festering rotting smell of flesh was in the air, as more than a dozen mindless and ravenous beings strayed up the road. Wandering free of the massive hoard which was mostly contained in the outer walls of the tower. With the low guttural sounds of grunts and growls heard ahead, there was plenty of warning to avoid them altogether if need be. Darth Cruor,Reiis Invadator @everyone

IC: The Shadow of Death Stinky SituationThe Shadow of Death stopped when he smelled it -- the fetid decay of half-alive walking corpses stinking up the air. He would have held his nose if he smelled things in the mortal sense of the words. But then again...was he mortal here? He turned to the pale, shriveled figure with the candy. He did not care who lived and who died, so long as it was their time. But even in this strange world, he knew it was not this man's time. "We can avoid them if we stray east off the path," he said, his voice at once booming and a dark, quiet whisper. "I wouldn't mind company." And he began walking east, because whether the candy man followed was not up to him. TAGs: dragonsith13, Darth Cruor, everyone.

IC: Darth ApollyonSomewhere... sometime... In a galaxy far, far away...The forest was limitless, radiant, and ancient. Its canopy was contested by oak, hemlock, and rhododendron, and ample openings let through dancing beams of light to play across the bright bushes that sprouted from the crunchy layer of golden leaves below. Bundled branches dangled from columns of cypress and poplar, framing medleys of flowers which saturated the scintillating light with vibrant colour. The mysterious fog rolled back, and a disharmony of wild sounds, most of which were varmint, reverberated through the air, echoing all across the vast primordial expanse of the ancient valley. Darth Apollyon knew not what this place was, nor whence she had come; a realm wrought raw from the Force was her most competitive hypothesis, some isolated dimension of imagination made real, akin to the Mortis myths, perhaps. The tower that sprouted from the valley floor ahead seemed reminiscent, to her, of accounts of singular monoliths rising from the bedrock of Mortis; one for the Son, one for the Daughter, one for the Father. Her master had taught her much about such places. He had explained that the Force could be twisted in on itself to create pocket realms; just as a mind in tune with the Force could experience visions of the past, the future and places far away, so could many minds learned in the Force manipulate its aetheric twines to create self-sustaining mental realms anchored to a physical location. He had said it was none too dissimilar to the lost art of Sith illusioncraft, how ancient magicians such as Naga Sadow had created phantasms that had attained a corporeality that defied physics. The power of pure creation. It was mind-boggling to Apollyon. She had never questioned how the old one had known such things; it was intuitive to her that one so ancient would know much that was since lost, and she had suspected his own wraith form was a product of such abilities. His explanations had made sense, at the end of the day. They matched her understanding of the Abeloth apocalypse, of how Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker had traversed to a nightmare realm "Beyond Shadows" in which dwelt some atavistic horror from the galaxy's tenebrous past. They even made sense of how the fabled Rakatan Star Forges had allegedly been capable of constructing infinite fleets and droid armies through harnessing the raw energies of the dark side. Could this forest be such a place? Darth Apollyon was determined to find out. She crept forward, leaves crunching beneath each bootfall, mindful of the subtle slope downhill. There were obstacles in the way of her path towards the tower; upon the forest floor lay the trees of yesteryear, fallen in storms long forgotten. The seasons must have been harsh, she mused, stripping away the bark and outer layers, yet rendering them all the more beautiful. They were soft, damp, yet her caramel fingers, lightly caressing them as she gingerly climbed over, came away dry. A low moan interrupted the melodic lulls and bursts of birdsong. Pausing as her foot met the ground over the last log, she cast her eyes warily to the left and right, clutching briefly the talisman of protection that hung around her neck; the gift of her master, bearing a shard of Nilrebmah. A bird fluttered away.
She hesitated a moment, but continued onwards, the train of her cloak lightly brushing up swirls of wood dust.
The moan came again, and Apollyon stopped short. There was something there. Crunch. Crunch. It approached from behind. She spun, lightsaber igniting the instant it smacked into her palm, spitting crimson fire. The attacker had its arm outstretched, withered skin sloughing off its bones like bark off rotting trees. She yelped, swinging wildly, and her lightsaber connected, undead flesh shriveling away as her weapon bit deep. She took a hasty step back, and brushed hair out of her eyes, seeing more clearly the ghoul that assaulted her.
It held a clawed hand to its abdomen, yet no matter how bitter her sting, the monster seemed to have lacked guts to spill. Apollyon snarled, and stabbed forward; the cumbersome thing was no match for her speed, and the tip of Apollyon's weapon sunk into its emaciated skull. It let out one last moan, and then fell to the ground in a flutter of leaves.

East pathThe horde of festering decay mindlessly carried on down the main road, with the presence of the two travelers unknown to it. Their easterly path would take them in the direction of a small valley at the southern side of the grand citadel. The groans of the passing horde seemed to grow fainter as it continued on, with the silent stillness of this lush forest filling air. Darth Cruor , Reiis Invadator ,

South of the Citadel
The creature, what only could be described as an undead, fell to the ground with a burning hole in its skull. With the creature felled, again the sounds of flora and fauna began to creep in replacing the abrupt growling of the putrid being that had thrust itself upon her. She would find herself to the south of the Citadel, positioned in a small side valley with the massive main structure visible between breaks in the forest canopy as it towered over the landscape in the distance. This place was serene, yet devoid of peace. Alive, and yet death seemed to float in the air. Darth Dreadwar ,

IC: The Shadow of Death South of the CitadelThe Shadow and the candied one continued on, reaching into the southernmost part of the citadel. All was quiet, thus far, as the hoard of hungry beasts had passed. Quiet, save for the natural elements of the valley and a young woman walking just ahead. The Shadow of Death slowed his walking, but did not stop. While he was clearly not one of the ravaging beasts, he wondered if his companion might be mistaken for one. Their smell was certainly not dissimilar. Death's Shadow needed only glance at the women to know that her time to die had not yet come...thus his facilities were not required at the moment. But what was perhaps more disturbing was that time seemed to be frozen, in a sense. And what was even worse was that, albeit frozen, he sensed he himself had a time to die. Impossible. But he set these thoughts aside, because even as they were unsettling, he knew they were out of his control. Rather, he addressed the young lady who approached from the other direction. She was beautiful and young for her species, but the Shadow of Death was blind to such things...almost literally. He sensed mainly the energy, life, and time associated with living creatures. Nothing else mattered much. "Are you, as we are, wanderers of this strange world?" TAG: dragonsith13, Darth Cruor, Darth Dreadwar,

South of the Citadel ~ ForestShe has been walking with two companions and quickly there were none. She found herself alone. The woods twisted and as her eyes sight would betray her as the quiet serene forest floor would bend unnaturally before her. There was a distinct feeling of loss and being lost. The other two would be nowhere in sight, gone as if having vanished, though they were still present in their own right and path. To Her however she would be alone. Reiis Invadator ,

Ic: Armored Knight The Cleansing
His armor reflected the dull overcast sky with its hues of grey and green, the sections that covered his body gave off muffled clanking as he strides forward. Swollen muscles heaved him ever onward, the Goliath of a man saw his enemy. His right hand clutched a sword as long as he was tall and half as wide, this bastard blade darkened from previous encounters.
He groans his aggression as they close the distance, his weapon dragging the ground carved a trail in the ground to match the bodies left in its wake. A few steps later, the hulking sword lifted. Swinging in a horizontal arc splitting flesh and bone as the undead were cleaved in two, sweeping the ground where their heads lay. Many more came to surround him to his fevered elation only to meet a similar fate. Pivoting and spinning around his next strike was more akin to a three hundred and sixty degree baseball swing than a traditional sword maneuver that sent the top of the wall of skulls bearing down on him. His bloodlust ran rampant as he engorged himself with the relentless horde. He would match their ferocity.

IC: The Shadow of Death...no more> A strange, strange planet...And suddenly, in a manner even he could not explain, the Shadow of Death had become.... Human.. Moral... A woman! Excitement and startlement were not easily conceived emotions from one so accustomed to Death and Suffering, but even the Shadow of Death was taken aback by this sudden change. Yet, time was not something in which he...she...could indulge, as another figure -- a behemoth, hulking knight in armor came slashing through a far away crowd of the undead beings. She turned, and merely watched. TAGs: All, but also dragonsith13, and Matyr Khanon (not yet tagable, it appears)
