General Rules


Out of Character vs In Character

The In Character ("IC") zones are restricted to The Galaxy exclusively. They only exception is the Role-Playing forum, but your character should depend on the thread.

Out of Character zones are everywhere else. Do not pressure others about IC events or carry over ranks to these sections. Do not bother users about their lack of rank or choice to not role-play.



Spoilers

This is a spoiler-free zone. Post any and all spoilers in their dedicated threads. Whether it refers to a Marvel film or a Star Wars novel. If it is official information, spoiler tag it until the release. Official information includes trailers, posters, official cast photos, plot summaries, and cast lists (amongst other things). 



Profanity and NSFW Media:

1. Profanity will be auto-censored if it is disallowed. Your post WILL be edited if you choose to circumvent the censoring system. Embedded video with language should carry a language tag in the post and images with profanity should be spoiler tagged.

2. NSFW (not safe for work) media is not allowed under any circumstance. Pornography or explicit images will result in a ban. There are sites for that. This is not one of them.

3. Roleplaying is intended to be Safe For Work. PG-13 is the upper limit here, ideally. If you're in doubt, message an administrator.

4. Crude content may or may not be subject to editing. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, you probably shouldn't be saying it.



Baiting, Flaming, Harassment

Baiting is the deliberate attempt to annoy or anger another user. This will result in an edit and a warning.

Flaming is being hostile to other users, usually in an argument. This is not acceptable and will result in an edit and warning. More than one offense will result in a ban.

Harassing other users is also not acceptable. This involves harassment on any basis - sexual, verbal, or for any other reason (religion, orientation, race, opinions, etc.).

Do not discriminate anyone based on race, sex, religion, orientation, opinion, or anything else. This is not the place to be misogynistic, bigoted, racist, sexist, or crude.



Spamming, Double Posting, Advertising, and Bots

Spamming is boosting post count by posting inconsequential messages, posting multiple times in a row, or posting links advertising websites or items.

Double posting (or any multiple) is not preferable. There is an UNLIMITED edit window. Please use it if you have something to add. The admins will merge double posts (and can be private messaged to merge/delete posts), but please do not double post intentionally. If you'd like a thread bumped, please PM an admin. We'll be happy to help.

Please do not use threads to boost your post count. Games and social threads are the exception, that is their purpose. Posting one word in a specific thread is not a good idea.

Anyone advertising (surveys, fansites, products, etc.) must private message an administrator before posting their thread. Fanfilms, funny videos, and images are fine. 

If you see a bot or spam, please report it to an administrator.



Illicit Materials, the Law, and the "Black Market"

Advertising, promoting, or "using" illicit real world substances is against the rules. This includes most drugs as well as the illegal use of legal substances. There are exceptions for roleplaying exclusively.

This is not a place to promote anything against the law. There are also sites for that. Persons promoting crimes will be warned and/or banned.



Sock Accounts

Sock accounts are allowed, however they should not be used to roleplay unless permitted. 

Socks are also not allowed to be used to circumvent a ban, mock or deride another user, commit offenses against the rules, or to spam. 



Signatures and Avatars

Signatures are allowed once you reach 5 posts. You can have images or text in them. Please do not insert large images or huge, eyesores of text. The administrators will edit it if this is the case. We can also disable signatures if the behaviour continues.

Avatars must follow the rules of profanity and NSFW. You can have gifs and still images. There is no minimum post requirement. 


Private Messaging
Private messages are only subject to the same rules IF reported. Otherwise administrators or staff cannot read your private messages.However, discussing illegal things should not be happening even there. Do it offsite.
